SAF-Holland Axles

Timpte has for several years used the SAF Holland CB2300 suspension as our standard air ride suspension. To this point these suspensions have been equipped with Arvin Meritor axles. SAF-Holland is a major builder of axles in Europe for the past 10 years. They have previously had four plants producing axles – three in Europe & one in Brazil. They have now made a major investment in their Warrenton, Missouri facility to be able to produce axles here in the United States. They are now beginning the process of changing the configuration of the CB2300 suspension to incorporate the use of the SAF-Holland axle.

Beginning with trailers that complete in David City the later part of July, some 96W trailers utilizing a tapered spindle axle CB2300 suspension will have the SAF-Holland axle. After a trailer completes, you will be notified if the suspension has the SAF-Holland axle. Not all trailers will have the SAF-Holland axle. Beginning mid-October, all trailers will begin utilizing the SAF-Holland axle. You will be notified at a later date of this exact change over date.

The SAF-Holland axle is a standard 5” diameter, 5/8” nominal wall cambered axle with ABEX 3030-197 Q+ brake linings. SAF-Holland has told us that all of the brake components on these axles are interchangeable with any other Q brake axle system with the exception of the S-Cam and S-Cam bushing kits. These are proprietary to SAF-Holland.

There is no discernable weight or performance difference. There is no effect to pricing. The warranty on the suspension from SAF-Holland remains the same, the axle carries a five year warranty on the beam and there is a seven year parts/five year labor warranty on the beam to suspension arm connection.

These axles require a change in the PSI tire inflation system options. All of our current PSI options are part of our “special option series”. Please contact Customer Service for these option numbers.

This change will also require us to use different dust shields. The new dust shield options for use with these axles are:
Single axle - #00247
Tandem axle - #00248
Triaxle - #00249

SAF-Holland will be making this same axle change in the parallel spindle and other axle/suspension configurations over the next several months and we will notify you of the anticipated change dates.
